The U1 Camouflage is an extraordinarily eye-catching diver’s watch. Made from high-strength, seawater-resistant German Submarine Steel, it features a dial that incorporates a camouflage colour design. The U1 Camouflage comes with a matching green silicone strap and an olive drab textile strap as standard. This allows you to swap and change the strap to suit the occasion or purpose.

The surface of the captive rotating bezel has also been hardened using TEGIMENT Technology, making it especially scratch-resistant. The classification company DNV GL has tested the reliability and suitability of the watch for professional diving. DNV GL verifies and certifies pressure resistance to a diving depth of 1,000 metres (= 100 bar) and temperature resistance and functionality in accordance with the European diving device standards.

Limited to just 500 pieces, the U1 Camouflage is an exceptional timepiece in the U1 series.

With specialist watch magazine Chronos, we’re presenting the U1 C special edition with dark green dial and Black Hard Coating, which is limited to 100 pieces.

We use this coating exclusively for cases featuring surface hardening with TEGIMENT technology. It’s this combination alone that ensures the high quality of the colour coating.

With the striking form, reduced displays and clear readability, the U1 C focuses on key details. The stylish dark green dial is especially eye-catching and really comes into its own in combination with the black case, whilst the dark green gradient centred around the midpoint of the dial creates an exciting play of colour. The vintage-style black cowhide strap with green accents completes this design to perfection.

The U1 C case is made from high-strength German Submarine Steel, which is highly resistant to saltwater and boasts outstanding non-magnetic properties. The diver’s bezel with minute ratcheting has a captive connection to the case, preventing the rotating bezel from detaching as a result of hard knocks.

DNV GL has verified and certified the U1 C’s pressure resistance to a diving depth of 1,000 metres and its temperature resistance and functionality in accordance with the European diving equipment standards.

Without question, it is the shimmering mother-of-pearl on the U1 S Mother-of-Pearl S – limited to 300 pieces – that makes the dial and the entire watch so striking, in part because this natural product goes so well with the high-quality Black Hard Coating. The result of this successful collaboration is a timepiece with a unique, technical appeal that is a joy to wear each and every day.

In addition to its striking design and minimalist display, the U1 S Mother-of-Pearl S is a high-quality timepiece that is also very suitable for everyday use. For example, the case and crown are made from high-strength seawater-resistant German Submarine Steel. Experts will recognise immediately that this timepiece is not only extremely resistant to seawater, but is also highly non-magnetic. The diver’s bezel with minute ratcheting has a captive connection to the case, so impacts are absorbed with ease, making it exceptionally durable. The positioning of the crown at 4 o’clock prevents pressure on the back of the hand, even during physically exerting activities.

Germany will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of German reunification on 3 October 2020, an event we would like to acknowledge with the U1 DE special edition. The reunification has another significance beyond this historical date for us as a German watchmaker. For us it’s synonymous with the story of two companies which continue to actively embrace the merging of east and west to this day: qualified engineer Lothar Schmidt, owner of Sinn Spezialuhren, and Doctor of Engineering Ronald Boldt, co-owner and Managing Director of Sächsische Uhrentechnologie GmbH Glashütte (SUG), have continued to develop the partnership established in 1999 between Sinn Spezialuhren and SUG. Lothar Schmidt has held 74% of all SUG shares since the disastrous flood of 2002. Working with Ronald Boldt, he has created an upmarket case manufacturing company, which is now successfully managed primarily by son Daniel Boldt.

To mark this special occasion, we’ve designed the watch in Germany’s national colours. The colours black, red and gold, which have always been a symbol of German reunification and are anchored in the constitution as the colours of the flag, go all the way back to the Wars of Liberation (Germany, 1813 – 1815). The black, red and gold flag appeared in its present-day form at the Hambach Festival of 1832 for the first time. Reunification was celebrated with the raising of a black, red and gold flag in front of the Reichstag building in Berlin.

The U1 DS model, limited to 500 pieces, is a very special timepiece in our range. The diving watch owes this to its dial, which we have grinded with an irregular, decorative pattern. As a result, the wearer enjoys an exciting play of colours as the base material on some parts of the dial reflects different nuances of light. Every watch is therefore a unique piece – the impression achieved on the dial during the machining process can never be repeated. The design still allows for perfect readability – thanks to the striking form and minimalist display
