Particularly noteworthy is not only the power reserve display at three o’clock, but also the highly curved sapphire crystal glass, which is ground out and carefully polished using a complex process involving an approximately 5 mm solid blank with five different curvature radii. This not only enhances the classic look of the glass, it also makes it stronger and more resilient than flat-ground glass. The anti-reflective coating on both sides facilitates accurate reading of the distinctively designed dial even under extreme lighting conditions.

The transparent case back made of sapphire glass offers a fascinating insight into the fine mechanical movement, which has been decorated with an exquisite finish and blued screws.

We have made sophisticated refinements to the models in our 356 series, which are designated by the suffix Sa.

The tastefully dimensioned case with a diameter of 38.5 mm has a fine satinized finish and gives an impression of high-quality, elegant functionality. Connoisseurs will immediately notice another subtle detail: the high-domed sapphire crystal glass used in the series has the same profile as the acrylic glass in the basic model. This sophistication has its price: in a complex process, the glass must be ground out of a solid blank with a thickness of five millimeters, with five different radii of curvature. The result not only preserves the classic look of these pilot's chronographs, but the glass is also more solid, stronger and more resistant than a simple, flat-ground alternative.

The anti-reflective coating on both sides facilitates accurate reading of the distinctively designed dial even under extreme lighting conditions. We have also enhanced the back of the watch: a sapphire crystal glass back affords a fascinating view of the interior. This is intentional, as the movement has been exquisitely decorated with a tasteful finish and blued screws.

Based on a streamlined version of the 256 pilot's chronograph developed for the Japanese market, our 356 series was created in 1996 with the characteristic FLIEGER [PILOT] logo on the matte black dial. With a case diameter of 38.5 mm, it is somewhat smaller, but even more successful in design. This classically elegant chronograph captures your attention with its clean, esthetic style. There is nothing to distract from the essentials. Everything is designed to ensure accurate reading of the various times. The hour, minute and centrally positioned second hand are skeletonized and coated with special long-lasting, luminous paint, as are the large, clearly readable Arabic numerals. The solid stainless steel case protects the proven classic Valjoux 7750 movement against adverse influences in the air as well as on the ground.
