The diving watches of the UX (EZM 2 B) model series are the official timepieces worn by the maritime squad of the GSG 9 Special Forces unit. One of the outstanding characteristics of this series of watches, and therefore also of the UX S, is our HYDRO Technology. We fill our watches with special oil that makes them non-reflective underwater and completely free from fogging, and also ensures that the dial can be read from any angle. And because it is filled with oil, the case made of seawater-resistant submarine steel can withstand water pressure at every reachable depth. We have also treated the cases of this timepiece with our TEGIMENT Technology for additional robustness. Besides enhancing hardness, this treatment enables us to apply a high-quality, black PVD coating. The combination of these two techniques makes this diving watch perfectly suited for everyday use. The Black Hard Coating on a TEGIMENT basis prevents the flaking that colored coatings are generally susceptible to.

Rescuing the hijacked “Landshut” aircraft on October 18, 1977 in Mogadishu made the German GSG 9 (Grenzschutzgruppe 9) special forces world-famous. Just as legendary as the reputation of the anti-terrorism unit of the German federal police is the diving watch that their maritime unit wears during its missions.

Together with GSG 9, we developed the EZM 2 mission timer in the mid-1990s. This timepiece met the special functional requirements of the divers exactly and incorporated the successful features of the 403 HYDRO diving watch. Now this service watch has a worthy successor that can be purchased by anyone: the UX GSG 9 (EZM 2B) diving watch.

The diving watch incorporates proven features such as the HYDRO Technology for perfect readability even under water and freedom from reflection at any angle, a large black dial with white hands and 5-minute indices, especially visible at 12 o'clock (mission timer design), a case made of seawater-resistant submarine steel and a captive diver's bezel with TEGIMENT Technology. The position of the crown at 10 o'clock to prevent pressure on the back of the hand is a feature, as is the "GSG 9" logo on the dial.

The EZM 3F is a classic pilot watch, featuring a countdown pilot’s bezel with minute ratcheting. For better readability, the two-way rotating bezel has a striking, luminous triangular main marker at 12 o’clock.

Also striking is the positioning of the crown on the left-hand side of the bead-blasted case. This enables greater freedom of movement and better protection for the crown. The instrumental watch is equipped with Ar-Dehumidifying Technology for more reliable functioning and greater freedom from fogging, Magnetic Field Protection up to 100mT (=80,000 A/m) and temperature resistance technology to ensure reliable functioning in a temperature range from –45ºC to +80ºC.

The diving watch EZM 3 is a mechanical watch made for the toughest diving jobs. This is because you can always rely on classical mechanics anywhere where a watch with a quartz movement could pose a risk due to electronic interference or failure of the internal power supply. This is especially true when these mechanics are protected by sophisticated Sinn technology.

Filling the case with a protective gas ensures optimum start conditions for our Ar-Dehumidifying Technology. The integrated drying capsule also absorbs the inevitable humidity which diffuses into the watch. The combination of carefully selected material dimensions and qualities together with perfect workmanship and complex sealing measures — such as double O-rings on the screwable crown — permits the approved use of the diving watch EZM 3 for a diving depth of 500 meters, corresponding to a pressure of 50 bar. This is an extreme performance value for which Magnetic Field Protection is crucial: an additional, solid soft iron sheath around the movement protects the accuracy of the watch up to magnetic field influences amounting to 100mT (=80,000 A/m).

The diving watch U2 is a professional mission timer which uses genuine German Submarine Steel, a material with extreme seawater-resistance and the highest level of non-magnetic properties. Sinn’s special oil and an adjusted position tolerance of the parts in the diving watch U2 series guarantee operation at temperatures ranging from minus 45°C to plus 80°C.

And that's not all: with the diver's bezel, this diving watch is well-equipped to measure the duration of a dive accurately. Fogging of the dial poses a safety risk when diving. To prevent this, we use EDR seals. This material, with its extreme chemical resistance and only a quarter of the gas permeability of conventional seals, prevents moisture from diffusing into the diving watch. The slightly domed, 4.2 mm thick scratch-resistance anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass withstands even the highest pressures. The case is filled with a protective gas, while three drying capsules keep the interior dry.

Every rescue mission to which emergency doctors are dispatched is a race to save lives – and against time. For the 'golden hour' and 'platinum ten menutes' are decisive in determining the course of action taken. This means that a patient should arrive at the hospital within the hour of an accident and that a critical patient should be treated and transported within the first ten minutes.

We have designed the EZM 12 specifically for such life-saving missions. A count-up inner rotating bezel allows emergency doctors to constantly keep an eye on the specified time frames, while a countdown outer rotating bezel enables e.g. the exact times for administering medication to be monitored. The seconds hand – designed in the shape of a rotor – features an integrated pulse scale which enables easy recording of the heart rate every 15 seconds. The EZM 12 ensures emergency personnel are equipped with a high-performing tool that will contribute significantly to saving lives.

Another special feature of the EZM 12 is the easy-clean watch and strap. The silicone strap can also be removed without the use of tools. The rotating bezel is removed using the large screwdriver on the pocketknife provided.

The diving watch U212 (EZM 16) is made of high-strength, seawater-resistant German Submarine Steel and is 47 mm in diameter. The SINN technologies used in the U212 (EZM 16) make it a robust and accurate instrument for professional diving operations. For example, Ar-Dehumidifying Technology ensures greater functional reliability and freedom from fogging. Temperature Resistance Technology guarantees the functional reliability of the watch in temperatures ranging from –45°C to +80°C. The captive diver’s bezel with minute ratcheting has also been hardened using TEGIMENT Technology, making it especially scratch-resistant. As the clarity and perfect readability of the mission timer from Sinn Spezialuhren are generally important, especially in the dark or under extreme diving conditions, the all-important features for recording the time are luminous.

The classification company DNV has tested the reliability and suitability of the watch for professional use. It verifies and certifies the pressure resistance of the U212 (EZM 16) to a diving depth of 1,000 metres (= 100 bar) and temperature resistance and functionality in accordance with the European diving device standards.
